The position of Baska has ensured it uninterrupted growth and prosperity, and in this day and age, a distinctive spot on the tourist scene, Baska being one of the Top Ten of the tourist destinations of the Adriatic Sea. It is located in a gentle valley and in a bay surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and flowering broom, with a picturesque background of the rocky mountains of Velebit and the islet of Prvic, which seems as if it is intent on giving all-round protection to the unique 1,800 m long pebble beach, justly said to be one of the most lovely in the Adriatic. HOW TO ARRIVE Excellent connections to United Kingdom - on the island of Krk, where we are situated, there is an airport (Rijeka Airport) with direct links to London Luton and Bristol (with EasyJet and Croatia Airlines). Although Baska is on an island, and located on the south east side, it is will linked with the mainland, by bridge, car ferry with the neighbouring island of Rab, by bus with other places on the island, and with Rijeka, the county town. SUMMER VACATION - SUN, SEA ... Baska abounds in beaches, some thirty pebbled beaches accessible to swimmers of all ages, while some of them have to be reached on foot or by boat. Still, the biggest and one of the most beautiful is Baska's Vela Plaza, the Great Beach, right in the centre of town, surrounded by bars, restaurants, pizzerias, cafes, hotels, private flats and other things all of which are an integral part of the place's attractions. The Great Beach is a natural pebble beach, 1800 m long, which can take several thousand swimmers with ease. It's particularly suitable for children and non-swimmers. The healing power of the climate in Baška has long been known for the positive effect it has on all lung and heart diseases. Our villa is situated in the heart of nature, on the crossroads of marked hiking trails that provide unforgettable views of the Kvarner Bay and its surroundings. Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has waved on Baska's Great Beach, today a trademark of Baska, as proof of the high quality and standards of the beach. For people who want recreation, Baska has a number of sporting grounds and courts. The Zablace Sports Centre provides for football, table tennis, tennis and mini-golf. Visitors Feedback: Zelie Walker (England), 2006: This is my second visit to Villa Maja and it has been as lovely as ever. The beautiful apartments make for very cosy stay, boasting a wonderful view over the valley towards the glorious Adriatic, and the immaculate pool and jacuzzi are such a treat in the afternoon sun. I happily discovered this year that our wonderful hostess Maja, offers professional full-body massage (medicinal massage in combination with shiatsu and reflexology)....the hour of heaven (she has angel's hands), - the best sleep in months and feeling like a new person. Villa Maja really does feel like home when you arrive, so it's very sad to leave...Hopefully, we'll be back next year, to enjoy the delightful hospitality of Maja and her villa. Doreen Dalgrty (England), 2006: Thank You for the best massage I have ever had, Maja! Very thorough and caring, leaving me feeling wonderful. Also for your care during the time we have been here. Valerie Thornes (England), 2006: Dear Maja, thank You for helping me to re-gain my sense of equilibrium.Your sure touch and an intuitive sense how to replace aches and tiredness by a feeling of alert relaxation, left me feeling re-born and deeply cleansed, and full of sense of well-being. Maja has a gift in her hands! Claudine Levy (Switzerland), 2006: Maja's massage is a wonderful experience.Very focused, strong yet gentle, and adopted to the individual needs. It leaves you with well balanced energy and a feeling of peace in a relaxed body. Thornes Bronwen (England): Thank You, Maja, for the marvellous place we were allowed to enjoy, for Your lovely smile and wonderful massage. Dario Gerchi (England), 2006: This is very beautiful and hospitable place with a peaceful atmosphere and amazing views of mountains and sea. Maja, the owner, made our stay once again unforgettable with her helpfulness, friendliness and not least with delicious offerings of her natural cuisine. A place to visit again and again, if you value a natural setting with very high standard of cleanliness, beautiful wooden furniture and fittings and many modern luxuries, including a spotless swimming pool and jacuzzi and last, but not least a very friendly welcome and loving care. May all who come here be blessed, as I've been. Patrick Zeoli (Germany), 2006: Villa Maja surpassed all my expectations...already from the first moment of entering I was struck by the serene and harmonious atmosphere and the loving attention to details...The week I spent here was one of the renewal and rejuvenation...seldom does one depart from a place with such a strong and secure desire to return again. Tanja Hooker (England), 2006: Villa Maja is a little oasis set above the bay of Baska. Walks of every description abound through picturesque villages, over meadows, mountains, pine forests and streams. Each room comes with such thought and care. Every appliance for the self caterer is provided for. The beds are extremely comfortable, even the fold out ones. And room has a large balcony with superb view. A beautiful pool and jacuzzi set like jewels over the most commanding of views complete this picture. Additionally, Maja herself with all her warmth offers an intimate knowledge of the area. She exudes enthusiasm and best of all, she makes the most delicious organic cakes. I cannot recommend it enough.
