The house is situated in the village of Lukoran, on the island of Ugljan. Ugljan is right across the channel of Zadar, it has seven villages, all pretty much turned toward the city and the mainland (there is evidence of Roman villas on a few locations). Village Lukoran is a small, quiet village, with one general store, one charming coffee shop and pretty much nothing else. But it has great connections. If you need the usual hustle bustle of the tourist season, shopping or some other necessity an eight minute drive to the nearby bigger town will provide you with markets, fishmongers, shops, and restaurants as well as a 24hour medical service. And if that is not enough, one can take the ferry to Zadar. During the summer season the ferry goes to and fro every hour, first at 5AM and the last one about midnight. It takes 25 minutes to arrive in either direction. (for all practical purposes, we recommend you leave the car on the Island and travel to Zadar like a native). But with a car on the ferry, one can make day trips to nearby National parks: N.P. Paklenica - it takes a 45 minute comfy drive, or N.P.Krka - an hour and a half. But you can go as far as Trogir and Split only to come back to Lukoran in the evening and sleep in serenity. We guarantee hooting of the night owls, and pheasant cries in the morning For those who like hiking there is a well-marked path towards the highest peak on the Island. And if you want to explore the island by car it is all in a 7-8 mile drive. Ugljan is connected by a bridge to the Island of Pašman - so there is a possibility to explore Pašman as well. Beaches in this region are predominantly rocky, wild and free. There are two pebble beaches in the village, mostly used by smaller children and their mother escort. But there are numerous wild coves that give the sense of privacy. Of course the walk to them is a bit lengthier. The House itself is in a secluded spot, yet few minutes from the sea and the village shop .It has been in the family possession forever. Built for living of a large family who were fishermen and peasants. It is 17 x 7 meters large, and there is no feeling of closed space - even with eight people. On the ground floor there is a former vine cellar, now used as a dining hall, then there is a kitchen and a bedroom with a bathroom . Hall opens to the enclosed terrace, which leads to the garden. Parking place is sufficient for three, four cars, all within the garden gate. The upper floor can be reached by the outside stairway - the only one used in the ˝ old ” times, and the inner stairway leading from the hall. On the upper floor we have a really large terrace that is turned towards the Island hills and forest. There are also four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a lounge and a balcony, which is turned towards the sea, the town of Zadar and the mountains beyond. Two double bedrooms are with en suite bathrooms, third double bedroom shares a spacious bathroom with the fourth bedroom, which has two bunk beds for children. Well-behaved dog(s) are allowed. Two bicycles are on the premises, to be used freely. The house is rented basically for 8 .
