Villa Grace is a most impressive traditional, old stone house set in the charming hamlet of Ruscovice. This former sea captain's house, is situated just 700 metres, 15 min walk, to the seafront of Orebic town. Built approx 200 years ago, the house retains many of the original features and even boasts its own supply of spring water piped directly to the kitchen. Nestling at the base of Mt.Ilija, which is as high as Britain's highest, Scafel. The location has a most breath taking backdrop and wonderful island and sea views to the front. Ruscovice is both tranquil and beautiful, surrounded by lush mediterranean vegetation, olive and pine trees: the location is ideal for those who want to relax on those hot sunny days! Following a 15 minute stroll to Orebic, you will find some of the most finest beaches in Dalmatia including Trstenica beach, a large sandy beach situated at the end of the promenade. From Orebic marina, why not take a short boat trip across the channel to the old town of Korcula , a medieval Dalmation town and tourist centre which is very much like a mini "Dubrovnik", likened for its defensive walls/towers and attractive jumble of pan-tiled roofs. Steeped in history and known for where Marco Polo was born in 1254, you can even climb the tower which is claimed was his home. A real gem for its history and elegant Venetian architecture. For those of you a little more active, why not take a hike up to Mt.Ilija, (961 m), the trek starts just behind the house, and takes around 2 - 3 hours to reach the peak. There you can admire the magnificent views of the entire Islands of Korcula, Hvar, Vis, Miljet, and Lastovo. The pretty seafront villages of Kuciste, Viganj and Loviste are a short drive away. Visitors Feedback: We had a great holiday when we stayed at Villa Grace in Orebic. The house is superbly appointed and in a stunningly beautiful location. The house had everything we needed, we have young children, so the TV Sky box and DVD came in handy. The house is located at the foot of a spectacular mountain and the scenery all around is stunning. Orebic has some good restaurants (The Amfora is one of the best) and there are some good supermarkets, banks with cash machines, etc. We used to go to the beaches at Duba and Lovist - the water was crystal clear and the beaches were clean. Korcula is worth a visit too. We had a great time! James Davies Abergavenny Click here to search for other locations in Croatia. bla |
