Featured in 'A Place in the Sun' magazine, 2 Gabella is a detached, character stone house in Viganj. The property and the hamlet of Gabella enjoy Protected Area Status for their historical interest so no new building is allowed here. The house has been restored externally - to its original design - and renovated throughout internally. It commands superb views over Viganj, the Adriatic and the island of Korcula beyond, from its slightly elevated position, 300 metres from the sea. Behind, the house is sheltered by the imposing mountains of the Peljesac Peninsula. Internally, 2 Gabella offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with further accommodation afforded by sofa beds in the lounge, which takes up the entire top floor of the house. In addition, there is a fully fitted kitchen and separate dining room. The lounge and bedroom levels benefit from air conditioner/heaters and satellite TV is provided. Outside, there are two terraces for our guests to enjoy, one of which offers total privacy. This is a very beautiful and peaceful area but close to all amenities. Apart from being situated in Croatia's famous wine growing region, Viganj is well known for its maritime history and for being the windsurfing capital of Croatia. Each year the National Championships are held here in the last 2 weeks of July and can be watched from the house. In fact, all watersports are popular here and all equipment can be rented locally. Boats can be hired by the hour or day giving you the opportunity to explore the many coves and beaches of the local area. Scuba diving trips are very popular as highlights include a U-Boat in the local waters and good marine life. Local restaurants offer a wide variety of local and european dishes and the food is largely organic. Several are excellently situated either on the water or offering great views of this beautiful coastline. There are many interesting towns and villages to explore along the Peljesac Peninsula, not least of which is the island of Korcula. Situated opposite Gabella, Korcula can be reached by using the local passenger ferry at Viganj or the car and passenger ferries which depart Orebic regularly. 140 sq m of accomodation.
