This newly renovated apartment is situated in the village of Pjescana Uvala and has spectacular views overlooking the bay, Veruda Marina and headland. It also benefits from a large private terrace with sun loungers and dining furniture for 'al fresco' eating. The kitchen is fully equipped should you wish to 'eat in' or alternatively you could select the cuisine from the various restaurants around the beach and harbour areas which are 3 mins walk away. Two of the restaurants in Pjescana Uvala, 'Valsabbion' and 'Vela Nera', regularly appear in the top 5 restaurants in Istria listing (Valsabbion has been 1st twice in the past 3 years). Pjescana Uvala also has a lovely pebbly beach, ideal for a swim at any time of day, and is just a 3 min walk from the apartment (down steps). Pjescana Uvala also has a bank, tourist travel shop, 2 bakers and 2 small food shops. It has the necessary facilities you will need without being overdeveloped and thereby maintains a lovely village atmosphere. Obviously the larger supermarkets, shops and many more restaurants are situated just down the road in Pula itself. If you prefer an activity based holiday, you are just a 5 minute walk from Veruda Marina, where you can charter anything from a pedalo to a yacht to sail and see the wonderful coastline or offshore islands. There are 18 clay tennis courts at Verudela in Pula, as well as numerous other activities such as squash, volleyball, jet ski rentals and several outdoor swimming pools which can be used for a nominal charge. Being right on the coast, there are wonderful scenic walks around the headlands etc. The nearby town of Pula, only 5 mins away by car, is a wonderful town with coastal scenery, wonderful history and a large Roman amphitheatre dating from 1st Century BC. There are numerous shops (including some designer ones) and restaurants, and a host of cultural events during the year from art exhibitions to Pavarotti in the amphitheatre. See www.pulainfo.hr for more details. Hiring a car is a real advantage as Pula is ideally located to use as a base from which to explore. The surrounding area offers lots to see and do, with the beautiful harbour towns of Porec, Vsar and Rovinj all within 45 minutes drive of Pula. The Euphrasian Basilica (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Porec is a must to visit, and Rovinj is without doubt the post picturesque harbour town in Istria. You can also explore the wonderful mountain-top villages of Buje, Motovun, Buzet and Vodnjan, or take a 10 min trip by ferry across to the fantastic Brijuni Islands, and currently the location of Istria's only golf course!
